Montserrat Heras

Pilot Alumni

Montserrat Heras is a contemporary dance artist based in Boorloo (Perth) whose choreographic practice explores memory, contradiction and cultural inheritance through embodied research and movement.

She has worked with STRUT Dance, The Blue Room Theatre, Cool Change Contemporary and Gogi Dance Collective, and internationally with SZENE Salzburg, Tanzquartier and Eindorf (Vienna). In 2025, she was selected for Midfield (Fremantle Biennale), a mid‑career choreographic platform presented by STRUT Dance and Performing Lines WA.

Her works include Together We Unravel (supported by Propel Youth Arts) andSpectrums of Chocolate Cake (supported by CITS and The Blue Room Theatre). Her ongoing project El Zaragozeño – What Remains has been developed with support from CITS, Cool Change Contemporary, Co3, Enneagon Movement and Make‑Shift, alongside international residencies.

Heras is also an educator and is passionate about inclusive, community‑engaged practice, connection and belonging across the Western Australian arts community.

·  Finding belonging within the WA dance community — through Enneagon, STRUT, Makeshift, the Biennale, and shared spaces.

·  Touring Siren (Gogi Dance Collective) to Karratha — deepening connection to land, distance and regional exchange.

·  International exchange — where language dissolves and new ways of moving and thinking emerge.
